Members of BRT

The Job Council provides employment and training services for qualified members of the work force, including youth, adults, displaced of disabled workers. Professional staff is skilled in pre-employment training activities such as vocational assessment, job development and employment counseling. The Child Care Resource Network program helps parents search for dependable, quality child care, providing referral services and seminars on balancing work and family demands. Oregon Employment Department offers the single largest registry of quality applicants in the region. Key services include labor market information, work force data collection and a computerized system that matches job applicant skills to employer needs on a local, state or national level. The Employment Department also files claims for unemployment benefits and administers targeted training funds.

Rogue Community College (RCC) offers a comprehensive community college program including job preparation, college transfer programs, Adult Basic Education and preparation for General Education Diploma (GED). RCC provides a range of services for the community, for both individuals and local businesses. Some services include small business development, customized training programs, assistance to recruit qualified job applicants and job related testing and assessment.

Southern Oregon University (SOU) provides information on continuing education options for displaced workers including degree programs, career development courses and computer training. SOU gives advice for those interested in becoming self-employed and offers customized training programs utilizing both SOU faculty and community professionals. SOU's Small Business Development Center provides informational and educational support to local small businesses, including free individual counseling, financing information, and business training services.

Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SO-REDI) works to bring new businesses to the area and assist the expansion of existing companies through loan packaging and funding economic development grant applications and physical site assistance.

City of Grants Pass can aid new and expanding businesses through incentives, innovative programs and a personalized approach. A newly-developed marketing plan for economic development strategies recognizes local business retention and expansion as the cornerstone and highest priority of the City's economic development efforts. The Grants Pass Redevelopment Agency *Urban Renewal District), Grants Pass Area Enterprise Zone, Industrial Development Revolving Loan Fund and Downtown Building Renovation Loan Fund combine with a new Retention and Expansion program to aid existing and new businesses alike. Josephine County Economic Development operates under the authority of the Board of County Commissioners and assists the other BRT partners in the creation of wealth and family-wage jobs in Josephine County. We strive to assist new or expanding businesses through permitting processes, enterprise zone applications, site infrastructure for business needs.
