RVWDC/SO-REDI Award Innovative Workforce Awards
By Dennis Alexander
At SOREDI’s July 20, 2000 annual meeting, the Rogue Vallley Workforce Development Council (RVWDC) and Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. recognized the workforce development efforts of four organizations.
Awards are given to winners in each of the following four categories: small business (1-19 employees); medium business (20-99 employees); large business (100 or more employees); and publicly funded and non-profit organizations.
RVWDC President Tim Kasdorf and SO-REDI’s Rob Pochert recognized Evergreen Federal Savings and Loan, Universal Rubber Stamp Manufacturing, Medford Fabrication, and The Job Council for Innovative Workforce Awards in 2000.
Evergreen Federal Savings, located in both Jackson and Josephine Counties, was singled out for its employee partnership and incentive program. Universal Rubber Stamp Manufacturing from Grants Pass was recognized for excellent team building philosophy and practices. Medford Fabrication was awarded for its exemplary inclusive training for new and advancing employees. In the non-profit sector, The Job Council was recognized for its commendable employee promotion practices.
Annually the RVWDC and SO-REDI award up to four $1,000 training scholarships to different types of organizations and businesses whose practices in staff development, family friendly practices, family wage levels, and other personnel activities are exemplary.
Companies were nominated by their peers and the criteria used to pick the winners included in-house training programs, average or above average wages, upward mobility opportunities, achievements or accomplishments that can be modeled by other companies, creative or innovative practices, tuition aids and professional development plans.
Watch for notices and announcements for next year’s applications to nominate a business you feel meets the criteria for this special recognition.
