Jackson Josephine Counties Workforce Council Becomes Partner in the Education & Resource Center

The Jackson Josephine Workforce Council (JJWC) has become the newest partner at the Education & Resource Center, located on the lower level of the Rogue Valley Mall.

Partners in the Education & Resource Center now include:

  • Oregon Employment Department

  • The Job Council

  • Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries

  • Southern Oregon University

  • Rogue Community College

  • Asante Health System

  • Pacific Non-Profit Network

  • Jackson Josephine Workforce Council

The Jackson Josephine Workforce Council is one of 15 regional workforce boards in Oregon conducting oversight of workforce policy. Created by the State of Oregon in 1991, the board seeks to coordinate and integrate over 40 different workforce training programs. 26 key community workforce stakeholders, including a majority private sector membership, comprise the board. The JJWC advises the Governor and the Governor's Workforce Cabinet regarding workforce issues for Southern Oregon.

Most notably, the JJWC spearheads the movement toward implementation of the One Stop Career System, focusing toward convenient customer service for job seekers and employers. The JJWC also manages a local Endowment Fund which is committed to funding additional training in our two counties.

The JJWC is now transitioning to anticipate the implementation of the recently passed Workforce Investment Act of 1998. The Workforce Investment Act will place more responsibility into the hands of local regional workforce boards like the JJWC to make determinations as to how federal workforce programs are administered.

Anyone needing more information regarding the Jackson Josephine Workforce Council can contact Dennis Alexander, Coordinator, at The Job Council at (541)776-5100.
