The Oregn Employer Council is a partnership between Oregon employers and the Oregon Employment Department. These are teams of volunteer employer representatives who serve as advisors to the Oregon Employment Department enabling Oregon employers and the Employment Department to identify and address local employment challenges.
As a member, you can make a real difference in local employment and training issues. You will be a link between employers, education, government, and the workforce.
The Oregon Employer Council members are the local arm of the National Employer Council which has over 90,000 employers as members nationwide. Each year the National Employer Council (NEC) holds an annual conference in Washington DC. Many employers, while attending the conference, take the opportunity to visit their congressional delegates.
Why should employers be interested in educating themselves about the Employment Department and the Employment Service?
The most important reason is that they pay for these services through their FUTA dollars. Oregon Employer Council committees sponsor low cost educational seminars for employers. You can register for these seminars by mail, telephone, and E-Mail.
Join the Oregon Employer Council. The only eligibility condition for membership is to be an employer. Make sure you are taking full advantage of all the services you have paid for with your FUTA tax.
For more information, please contact the manager of your nearest Employment Office at 776-6073 or call 1-800-237-3710 ext 71305, and ask for the Oregon Employer Council Coordinator, or send a message to Employer Council

One more reason to belong is to use the The Oregon Employer Council Resource Library. (The Oregon Employer Council was formerly Job Service Employers Committee - JSEC) A sample of the many Books, Audio Tapes, and Videos available free to our local employers is found on page 8 of this newsletter.
